Daedong (Co-CEOs Kim Jun-Sik and Won Yu-Hyun), a leader in future agriculture, announced on June 19, 2026, that seven key executives from the group and its affiliates, including Chairman Kim Jun-Sik, had acquired Daedong shares through open-market purchases.
The purchases were made by key executives at Daedong headquarters, including Chairman Kim Jun-Sik, Vice Chairman Won Yu-Hyun and Executive Vice Presidents Kwon Ki-jae, Cho Seong-woo and Na Yeong-jung. Executives from affiliates, including Executive Vice Presidents Kang Sung-chul and Yu Yong-gyu, also participated. The seven executives purchased a combined 195,010 shares for approximately KRW 1.53287 billion.
Daedong is currently working to transform itself into an ‘AI agricultural operations platform’ company. Its strategy is to use Agricultural Physical AI technology to integrate AI-powered autonomous agricultural machinery, agricultural robots, connected services, precision agriculture and smart farming into a single operational framework. Through this approach, it is building a business model in which agricultural data is collected and analyzed, and robots and equipment carry out the tasks that AI determines to be optimal.
Notably, this year Daedong became the first company in Korea to sell vision AI-based tractors capable of unmanned autonomous operation and has received a positive market response. In May 2026, it was also selected as the preferred bidder to serve as the lead private-sector company for the ‘National Agricultural AX Platform project.’ It is working with the government to prepare initiatives to expand the adoption of agricultural AI and build large-scale smart greenhouses, while also accelerating the development of agricultural robots for smart farms. Daedong is concentrating its efforts on bringing its AI robot business to fruition to provide a fundamental solution to agricultural labor shortages.
Daedong explained that the executives’ share purchases went beyond simply acquiring shares and reflected management’s confidence in its sweeping AI robotics transformation strategy and its commitment to seeing it through responsibly. The participation of Executive Vice Presidents Cho Seong-woo and Yu Yong-gyu, who recently joined Daedong Group, is also noteworthy. Cho is leading AX-driven management innovation and strategy development across the group, while Yu is drawing on his experience leading the robotics business at KT to help bring Daedong’s AI robot business to fruition.
