-. Industry ministry officials, including its Deputy Minister for International Trade and Investment, visit the Daegu plant to review reshoring companies’ investment plans and production operations.

-. Plans to reshore production from China center on strengthening the Daegu plant’s competitiveness in manufacturing next-generation agricultural machinery.

-. Companies share on-the-ground feedback on investment support for reshoring businesses and improvements to related policies and systems.

Daedong (Co-CEOs Kim Jun-Sik and Won Yu-Hyun), a leader in future agriculture, announced that it hosted a site visit and roundtable with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources at its Daegu plant on August 13, 2026, to promote regional investment by reshoring companies and strengthen manufacturing competitiveness.

Kang Gam-chan, Deputy Minister for International Trade and Investment at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, visited Daedong’s Daegu plant that day, along with officials from the ministry, Daegu Metropolitan City, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation. Daedong was represented by Kwon Ki-jae, Executive Vice President overseeing product development and production, and Plant Manager Hwang Tae-won. Representatives of reshoring companies, including ISU PETASYS, Iljin and Guyoungtech, also attended.

Participants were briefed on Daedong’s reshoring plans and toured its tractor production facilities before discussing challenges that reshoring companies face during the investment process and potential support measures. Daedong is pursuing reshoring by winding down its production base in China and reorganizing its production operations around its Daegu plant, its core manufacturing base in Korea.

Representatives from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, Daegu Metropolitan City, KOTRA, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and reshoring companies took part in an ‘On-Site Roundtable on Promoting Regional Investment by Reshoring Companies and Strengthening Manufacturing Competitiveness’ at Daedong’s Daegu plant on August 13, 2026.

Daedong manufactures its major agricultural machinery, including tractors, combine harvesters and rice transplanters, in Korea for sale in domestic and overseas markets, with the Daegu plant serving as a core production base. The plant currently has an annual tractor production capacity of approximately 30,000 units. Through this reshoring initiative, Daedong plans to enhance the Daegu plant’s manufacturing competitiveness and gradually strengthen its manufacturing capabilities to accommodate next-generation agricultural machinery, including high-horsepower and AI models.

The roundtable also addressed the need to expand investment support, provide company-specific consulting and strengthen coordination across government policies and institutional frameworks to encourage reshoring companies to invest in manufacturing innovation.
